Zainab Aina is a critical being and self defined Nigeriactivist. She was born in Nigeria, but has spent most of her life living in New York City. Although she is currently studying chemical engineering at Columbia University, the bulk of her interests lie in learning, understanding, and figuring out how different communities can work to eradicate systems of injustice that continue to plague the lives of black people and people of color in the United States and around the world. She is also deeply interested in figuring out how to combine her interests in STEAM, fashion, education, and social and cultural theory to effect a business or organization that can catalyze/aid her Nigeriactivism. Because she doesn’t actually have any free time, Zainab works on various personal, academic, and institutional projects in order to build a future where such free time will one day be possible in her life. She is eager to learn and open to new, expected, and unexpected opportunities.
